About
Thank you for visiting my blog! My name is Jay, and “Porsidan” means “to question” in Persian. In my life, I have come to realize that I ask a lot of questions. I question other people, so that I may learn from them, and I question life, God (whom I perceive to be a woman, but you may perceive in any way you wish), and the Universe. Mostly, I question myself, my beliefs and my assumptions. This blog is where I share those questions and the answers that I find.
The most important things in my life are music and spirituality, and in particular the places where those two things meet. I am a very musical person, and I am a very spiritual person, and so I write about those things a lot. I am particularly fond of using music to express spiritual concepts, so there’s a lot of that going on here.
Spiritually, I consider myself to be an omnitheist. Omnitheism is the belief that all religions are equally valid, and that they all have valuable insight to share. I also believe that all religions have mistakes built into them, and so no one true religion exists. Basically, whenever I encounter a new teaching or tradition, I extract the parts I think are valuable, and leave out all the rest. The net result is a religion that is completely my own, which I jokingly refer to as “Jayism”. I highly encourage everyone to custom-build their own spirituality in the same way.
Musically speaking, my tastes are all over the place. As far as genres go, I like classic rock, rap, pop, motown, surfer rock, hair metal, blues, jazz, and alternative/indie bands. Some of my favorite artists are Pink Floyd, the Eagles, AC/DC, Prince, Journey, Fleetwood Mac, Santana, Matchbox 20, the Cure, ABBA, Air Supply, Aerosmith, Evanescence, Jimmy Buffett, Joan Jett, The Alan Parson’s Project, Van Halen, U2, Sarah McLachlan, Nickelback, Motley Crue, Danzig, Metallica, Lenny Kravitz, Mariah Carey, Eric Clapton, and Cinderella. So many more…I just love music.
Once again, thank you for visiting. I hope you enjoy my writing, and find it useful in some way.
